The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff

“The truth is sometimes the very opposite from what you expect it to be.”

– Pam Jenoff, The Lost Girl of Paris

The Lost Girls of Paris follows three different women through three timelines during WWII. Grace, NY 1946 finds a mysterious suitcase with photos of women. She goes in search of the truth behind the photos as well as the owner. Eleanor has been selected to head the Special Operations Executive, SOE, in London. The SOE begins to train women to operate in Occupied France to upend Germany’s advances. Marie is recruited to the SOE as an operative, typing messages from France. Each woman’s journey is full of adventure, emotion, and coming to terms with the war that is raging through Europe.

From the first page, the author had me hooked. I loved each of the women’s timelines and how moving their heartbreak, betrayal, and survival was. It was such an interesting read. The author does a great job of describing locations that you feel like you’re there. Her descriptions of locations was wonderful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction books with a little bit of intrigue, deception, and love.
