Overview

Six of Crows is a YA fantasy fiction duology set in Bardugo’s “Grishaverse”. A motley gang of six from the underbelly of Ketterdam to pull off the greatest kidnapping. If they succeed, they will become wealthy beyond belief, but each will be tested on their journey. They must trust in their leader, Kaz Brekker, who is less than forthcoming with information. They will need to keep their wits about them on this treacherous mission.

Six of Crows Review

The world richly woven together by Bardugo with well developed characters, good pacing, and the plot is wonderfully unique. The plot twists will keep you guessing until the very end and that can be hard to do with YA these days. The only pitfall is the POV shifts happen every chapter and can make it confusing to remember whose talking. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good novel about thieves, sharpshooters, spies, and more pulling off an amazing mission.

Crooked Kingdom Review

Bardugo certainly knows how to put a dagger through my heart, I couldn’t be happy for anyone after what she did to one of my favorite characters. Honestly, it ruined the whole ending for me. The plot was just as amazing as Six of Crows. Again there was the issue of the very distant 3rd person point-of-view. However, towards the middle, it got a lot better and I felt like we learned way more about the characters in this book than in the first. Maybe this trend will follow for her Alex Stern (Ninth House) Series. It makes me hopeful for that second book at least.
